The invention relates to a method for measuring radioactivity of samples (1, 7, 9) by means of a radiation detector (2). It is provided that the measurements on a sample (1, 7, 9) are interrupted once or a number of times for the intermediate measurement of the background activity, and are then continued. For this purpose, a displaceable diaphragm (3) is arranged, for example, between a sample (1) and the radiation detector (2), by means of which diaphragm the sample (1) can be shielded for the intermediate measurement of the background activity. According to other examples, the samples (7, 9) are pushed away or turned away from the radiation detector (2) for the intermediate measurement of the background activity. <IMAGE>
