NEW MATERIAL:A compound expressed by formula I [R<1> and R<4> are H or lower alkyl; R<2> is H, halogen, OH, lower alkyl or lower alkoxy; R<2> is H, OH, lower alkyl or 2-(4- chlorophenoxy)-2-methylpropionyloxy; n is an integer 0, 1 or 2]. E X A M P L E : 2 - ( 3, 4 - D i h y d ro-6-hydroxy-2,5,7,8-tetramethyl-2H-benzopyran-2-yl)ethyl-2-(4-chlorop henoxy)-2-methylpropionate. USE:A medicine and antilipemic agent, capable of exhibiting improved lasting antilipemic action, and having low toxicity and safety. PREPARATION:A 3,4-dihydro-2H-benzopyran derivative expressed by formula II is esterified with 2-(4-chlorophenoxy)-2-methylpropionic acid in or without a solvent in the presence of a tertiary organic base while heating and refluxing to afford the aimed compound expressed by formula I.
