PURPOSE:To improve the performance of the titled medium by providing a magnetic layer on one surface of a plastic film having specified thickness, furnishing fine particles having specified mean particle diameter on the other surface and providing flexual rigidity in the limited range to the medium. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic layer of ferromagnetic thin film is formed on one surface of a plastic film having <=10mum thickness, fine particles having 50-5,000Angstrom mean particle diameter is furnished on the other surface and a backing layer is formed thereon. When the flexual rigidity EI of the medium is calculated by equation I, the EI is regulated to 3.0X10<-3>-1.2X10<-2>g.cm. The backing layer is the film of a metal or its oxide and the thickness is regulated to 0.05-1.5mum. Besides, the fine particles consist of colloidal particles and the density to be provided is preferably controlled to 10<5>-10<9> particle/mm<2>. The mechanical strength, especially flexual ridigity, head touch, traveling property and other performances of the medium can be improved by such a constitution.
