PURPOSE:To make a mechanism small and thin, by using a shape memory alloy as a retaining member retaining a stamp in a stamping mechanism of a facsimile equipment or the like. CONSTITUTION:When a transmitted copy 5 is conveyed to a prescribed position of a stamp receiver 15, a switch 16 is turned ON, a retaining member 12 formed ofa configuration memory alloy is elongated by heating, and stamping is made on the copy 5 by a stamp 10. When the stamping is ended, the switch 16 is turned OFF, the retaining member 12 cools down and loses elasticity, and the stamp 10 is pulled by a coil spring 18 and held apart from the stamp receiver 15. According to this constitution, a stamping mechanism can be made small and thin. In addition, by using the shape memory alloy for an elastic member 18, a time required for putting the mechanism in the state of stamping or standby can be further shortened.
