A metering and mixing device for two-component plastics is designed as a portable hand unit. In a cartridge holder (5) there is arranged between two laterally arranged cartridges a pneumatic cylinder (23) which, via a drive rod (21), drives the push piston for discharging the cartridges. In the case of failure or absence of the compressed air supply for the pneumatic cylinder (23), the metering and mixing device can be mechanically operated by hand. For this purpose an operating handle (29) is provided which, via a pulling rod (31) extending to the rear moves a clamping plate (32) which engages around the drive rod (21). On a handle (27) of the cartridge holder (5), an operating trigger (28) is arranged behind the operating handle (29) and operates a control valve (25) for the pneumatic cylinder (23). <IMAGE>
