The invention is concerned with improving the rinsing results in automatic car washes by applying a film of water to the body of the vehicle in an unpressurised manner. For this purpose, there is provision to provide a water pipe (3), from which short, flexurally rigid or long elastic hoses (11, 12) in the form of a hose curtain (10) hang down, on a rinsing arch (1) transversely to the direction of transport. The rinsing water is passed from the tube (3) through the inside of the hoses (11, 12) onto the body (9) of the vehicle. <IMAGE>
