PURPOSE:To make it possible to directly drive a valve, switch, etc. which utilize rotary motion, by inserting an arcuate rod member which is pressed at its inner end by fluid and therefore, is projected at its outer end which therefore serves as an operation end, retractably into an arcuate cylinder connected to a temperature sensing chamber. CONSTITUTION:When the temperature of cooling water in a water communication chamber 11 rises, an expandable member 15 expands to press fluid 18 through the intermediary of a diaphragm 19 so that an arcuate rod member 20 is pushed out, and therefore, an actuating plate 23 and a rotary shaft 22 are rotated to actuated a valve 21 and the other valves, a switch, etc. Further, when the temperature of cooling water lowers, the expandable member 15 contracts so that the actuating plate 23 and the rotary shaft 22 are reversely rotated, and therefore, the arcuate rod member 20 is pushed into an arcuate cylinder to actuate the valve 21, etc. in the opposite direction.
