<p>A gas-balancing stand pipe 2 extends through and is secured to the bottom wall 1 of a tank, and is fitted with a flame-trap 4 and a device 3 to actuate a valve 6. The pipe 2 extends up through liquid 5 and the gas space above the liquid surface 7. A flange 9 accommodates a safety valve loaded by a spring 19 and sealed by a rupturable foil 23. The flange 9 carries a tube 13 having annular surge baffles 15 which together with distance pieces 16 prevent liquid from entering the pipe 2 and the pipe being moved by surging of the liquid. <IMAGE></p> |
