PURPOSE:To select and change over optionally the inserting direction and the discharging direction of a magnetic card in accordance with an installing place, the use, etc., of a device by controlling the rotating direction of a card feeding roller by the change-over operation of a discharging direction selecting switch. CONSTITUTION:By a magnetic head 12 provided at the card inserting path, the data recorded at a magnetic card C are read or the data for the magnetic card C are written. A card inserting port is respectively formed at both edges of the card inserting path, the reading or writing processing for the magnetic card C inserted from the card inserting port is completed, and thereafter, a card feeding roller to discharge from the desired card inserting port is incorporated and for the card feeding roller, the rotating direction is controlled by the changing-over operation of a discharging direction selecting switch 36.
