MANUFACTURE OF AL2O3-AL-SI-TYPE COMPOSITE FIBER

摘要

PURPOSE:To improve wear resistance as well as mechanical strength by subjecting a fiber mainly composed of SiO2 to vapor-deposition treatment with Al so as to react SiO2 with Al. CONSTITUTION:A glass fiber mainly composed of SiO2 is prepared. Subsequently, molten Al is heated under reduced pressure to be evaporated, which is vapor- deposited onto the glass fiber. Then SiO2, so that an Al2O3-Al-Si-type composite fiber can be obtained.
