PURPOSE:To uniformize penetration treatment and to improve the working efficiency of a device by providing a reaction cylinder of a vertical type, supplying continuously a mixture composed of a material to be treated and a penetrant into the cylinder from above and discharging successively the treated mixture from the bottom of the cylinder. CONSTITUTION:The pretreated metal to be treated is supplied into a bucket conveyor 3 and is mixed with the penetrant transported from a lower hopper 16. The mixture is stored in an upper hopper 5 and is supplied continuously into the reaction cylinder 4 from constant rate feeders 8a, 8b. A heating furnace 10 is heated up to a prescribed temp. and the discharging rage of a constant rate discharger 13 is so set that the mixture stagnates in the furnace 10 for the prescribed time. The mixture subjected to the penetration treatment and cooling is supplied from the discharger 13 to a screening device 14 and the material to be treated is conveyed through a mesh part 15 to a post treating stage. The sieved down penetrant is conveyed into a bucket conveyor 3 and is reused.
