PRODUCTION OF VINYL CHLORIDE RESIN MOLDING HAVING MODIFIED SURFACE CHARACTERISTICS

PURPOSE:To obtain the titled molding having persistent resistance to staining, weather and oils imparted thereto, by blending a filler having an epoxy compd.- treated surface with a vinyl chloride resin, molding the mixture and treating the surface of the molding with low-temperature plasma. CONSTITUTION:A filler (e.g. calcium carbonate or titanium dioxide) having a surface treated with an epoxy compd. (e.g. gamma-glycidoxypropyltrimethoxysilane) is blended with 100pts.wt. vinyl chloride resin in such a manner that the amount of the epoxy compd. accounts for 0.05-30pts.wt. of that of the resin compsn. The resulting compsn. is molded and the surface of the molding is treated with low-temperature plasma of inorg. gas (e.g. helium or carbon monoxide) under a pressure of 0.001-10Torr to obtain the desired vinyl chloride resin molding having modified surface characteristics. The molding is suitable for use as food packaging material.
