A method of making a fibre-reinforced moulded racquet frame comprises: placing a core including a tube comprising at least one layer of woven reinforcing fibre in a mould shaped to define the frame; providing, as a portion of the mould, a plurality of side-action devices each including at least one needle-like projection; closing the mould so as to pierce with the projections the weave of the woven reinforcing fibre and the remainder of the core and to cause the projections to extend across the mould cavity to define respective stringing-holes passing radially through the frame; and injecting a plastics material into the mould around the core and the needle-like projections.
