PURPOSE:To enable decrease of the burden of an ignition system and harmonization of demands for acceleration performance and operability, by a method wherein a supercharging effect is decreased only during acceleration operation in that the demand voltage of an ignition device is high. CONSTITUTION:In a control circuit 68, a point of time when fuel cut is conducted is detected by means of input signals from a throttle sensor 70 and a crank angle sensor 72. About a time between the point of time and return to the feed of fuel is detected by a timer means. In this period, a diphgram 60a of a diaphragm device 60, driving a bypass control valve 58, is driven so that a bypass passage 5b is partially released, and a switching valve 62 is controlled so that a supercharging state by a supercharger 38 is weakened. After the period lapsed, a delay mechanism 66 performs control so that a supercharging effect is gradually increased. Meanwhile, in the case of normal acceleration, control is effected so that whole supercharing is carried out momentarily.
