SYNTHESIS GAS PRODUCTION PROCESS A process for producing synthesis gas comprising the steps of: removing unreacted carbon from synthesis gas obtained from the partial oxidation of carbonaceous materials; and cooling and washing the synthesis gas with water, followed by discharging the condensate or washing water from the system. This process effectively solve the serious problems of the prior art, e.g, clogging of pipes and valves, indication failure of meters, and working failure of safety valves, caused by deposition and accumulation of crystalline solids when carbonaceous starting materials having a relatively large nitrogen content are used in the production of synthesis gas.
