PURPOSE:To enlarge or reduce in image at an appropriate copying magnification without recognizing the sizes of the original and paper by providing an automatic magnification mode selecting means which detects automatically the copying magnification from the size of an original image and that of the paper and enlarges or reduces the image. CONSTITUTION:An original width detecting switch and an original switch detect the longitudinal and lateral sizes of the original. The size of an output paper is detected by an upper cassette size detecting switch or a lower cassette size detecting switch. With the aid of size information, a CPU 401 calculates the copying magnification, controls the scan speed of a carriage in a scanner unit 110 through a scanner interface 409 according to said copying magnification, and carries out the enlarging or reducing action on a sub-scan direction. |
