PURPOSE:To attain multi-function for document communication function by providing a function of communicating a document to a facsimile terminal equipment. CONSTITUTION:A communication control section (CCU) 9 discriminates whether or not a command received from a system control section (SCU) 7 is an FAX transmission document command and applies line connection processing to an opposite party according to the rule of facsimile communication or telex communication in response to the result of discrimination. When a line with the opposite party is connected and the transmission is enabled, the processing of transmission document sending and reception from a transmission document SCU 7 to the CCU 9 is applied according to the transmission mode between the SCU 7 and the CCU 9. Then the CCU 9 sends the transmission document information received from the SCU 7 to the opposite party according to the transmission mode. After the sending of the document to the CCU 9 is finished or the transmission is disabled, the SCU 7 applies the transmission end processing immediately and after the document sending to the opposite party is finished or the line connection is disabled, the CCU 9 applies immediately the transmission end processing to complete a series of processings.
