PURPOSE:To prevent a sheet from being wrinkled and folded by providing a back-insertion preventing plate adapted to open and close by a link mechanism connected to a motor in a space portion for discharging a recording sheet, whereby even if the recording sheet is fed reversely, the trailing end of the sheet will not be caught on the feeder side. CONSTITUTION:A back-insertion preventing plate is disposed in such a manner as to close an opening portion 4c between a side plate 4a and a guide plate 4b of a discharge tray 5, and one end of the preventing plate is connected to an eccentric pin 13b fixed to a motor shaft by a link lever 14. In the case where detection of a recording sheet 3 is not conducted by a paper sensor 6b, and a recording sheet 3 is fed reversely for correction or the other reasons, when a platen 7 is reversed, a motor 13 is also rotated, and the preventing plate 12 closes the opening portion 4c. Accordingly, the recording sheet 3 is advanced along the outside of the preventing plate 12, so that the trailing end of the recording sheet is kept from contacting a cut sheet feeder not to cause wrinkles and folding.
