PURPOSE:To make possible the economical constitution of a cable line by packing a resin between tensile bodies and between a unit and the pressure resistant pipe of an inside layer in the longitudinal direction thereof to prevent the running of the water intruding into the cable under the high water pressure thereby increasing the unit length of the cable and shortening the time interval for repairing the trouble of the submarine optical cable. CONSTITUTION:The spacing between the tensile bodies is intermittently packed with the thermosetting resin 11 including thermally expandable microballs in the longitudinal direction of the cable. The temp. of the tensile bodies 5 increases up to about 120 deg.C in the stage for coating a PE insulating layer 7 and a sheath 8 around a pressure resistant pipe 6 of an outside layer. The urethane resin contg. the thermally expandable microballs expand in volume by about 5% by such heat and fills thoroughly the gaps between the steels. The resin is intermittently packed except in 5m gaps at every packing of 10m in the longitudinal direction of the cable. The resin is intermittently packed because pipe 6 may be ruptured by the expanding force of the thermally expandable microballs if the resin is continuously packed in the cable. |
