PURPOSE:An external remedy for the skin, having superior preventive effect against flushing and roughening of the skin caused by sunburning, razor rash, inflammation, etc., and containing shogaol and/or zingerol. CONSTITUTION:An external remedy for the skin containing 0.001-5wt% (as a dry material) shogaol and/or zingerol. As the shogaol or zingerol, either an extract from a natural product such as ginger or a synthesized one can be used, and the incorporation thereof produces the external remedy for the skin which truely exhibits its effect without deterioration of quality and smell thereof. The extract from the natural product can be prepared by heating and refluxing ginger roots, for example, with a solvent such as hydrocarbons, esters and ketones, followed by filtering and concentrating the liquid extract obtained by filtering. Various kinds of components usually used for cosmetics, medicines, etc., can be incorporated into the above-mentioned external remedy for the skin. |
