PURPOSE:The titled foliar application agent, consisting of an aqueous solution of propylene glycol, and capable of exhibiting improved effect on prevention or reduction of cold injury or putrefaction occurring due too low temperatures in the culivation period of a vegetable. CONSTITUTION:An foliar application agent used by diluting propylene glycol with water, applying the diluted solution in 1-20%, preferably 5-10% concentration to the foliar surface of vegetables. A phosphoric acid buffer solution having effect on reduction of freezing by foliar application in the past may be mixed therewith as necessary. Various chemicals and components having the fertilizer effect and used as a foliar application agent can be mixed for use. The above- mentioned application agent is useful for vegetables of open cultivation susceptible to cold injury caused by low temperatures during the cultivation period in the winter season, e.g. cabbage, Japanese radish, lettuce, Chinese cabbage, garland chrysanthemum, broccoli, carrot, pea, etc. EFFECT:Growth promoting effect and sugar content enhancing effect can be expected as secondary effect.
