The hub according to the present invention is noteworthy especially in that it consists of a spindle 3 which is provided with two flanges 4 receiving the spokes of the wheel and with two roller bearing surfaces 5 for receiving two roller bearings. In order to receive a wheel equipped with such a hub, the bicycle, at the ends of the tubes constituting the forks, is fitted with roller bearing cages 2 which are each provided with a recess in which the roller bearing is engaged. The natural elasticity of the tubes allows the roller bearings of the cage to be held, and the groove made in the latter allows the wheel to be put on and taken off. According to a variant, the hub of the rear wheel is equipped with an excess length so that the free wheel 6 may be mounted outside the frame of the bicycle. <IMAGE>
