PURPOSE:To improve deceleration ability of a boat and exhibit improved operational performance upon steep turn, by providing a retractable resistance plate at a bottom of the boat which plate is projectable by a handle operation by an operator. CONSTITUTION:A retractable resistance plate 13 is provided at a bottom 12 in such that it is slidable on guides 15 provided on both sides of a body in a direction of an arrow A, and is upwardly biased by tension springs 16 provided between the plate and the body. The resistance plate 13 is normally maintained in a retracted position where it abuts against stoppers 17 and is not projected from the bottom 12. When an operator draws a deceleration grip lever 14 mounted to a handle 8, a lever 20 is rotated through a control cable 22 to project the resistance plate 13 from the bottom 12 against the springs 16, thus increasing a travelling resistance and effecting deceleration. An amount of projection of the resistance plate 13 may be changed by adjusting the operation of the lever 14 to thereby obtain a desired deceleration force and improve operation performance upon steep turn.
