The subject of the invention is a method and a device for producing subtitles and/or special effects in cinematographic films. This method consists in placing between the screen 18 and the camera 2 the screen-dumping means 1, a means acting as a half-silvered (semi-reflective) mirror 17; a projector 19, which is installed at the site of the screen-dumping means, projects one or more superimposed films NB + C1 onto the said half-silvered (semi-reflective) mirror 17, the camera then films the image I1 projected onto the said mirror 17 and the image I2 of the screen 18 seen through the said mirror 17.
