PURPOSE:To obtain a cosmetic effective for improving the hair or skin, by dissolving crude tannin obtained by extracting a finely cut wood part of a fagaceous plant, e.g. oak, in a mixed solution of water and alcohol, or mixing the extract with a base for a cream. CONSTITUTION:Crude tannin obtained from a fagaceous plant, e.g. oak, in a concentrated form or formed into powder is dissolved in a mixed solution of water and alcohol or mixed with a base for a cream, etc. to give the titled cosmetic. The above-mentioned tannin has properties of nonastringency with little irritation and tannin, softening, strengthening and making proteins unchanged, and causes no pain even on entry into eyes, makes the texture of the skin fine and exhibits the antiperspirant and deodorizing effect to reduce the makeup disorder. The oak tannin is obtained by roughly crushing the wood part of the oak, extracting the roughly crushed wood part with water, evaporating the water, extracting the resultant crude tannin extract with a mixed solution of water and alcohol, filtering the extract while cold once in the course of the extraction with certainty and concentrating the resultant extract. |
