The invention relates to a multilayer ceramic component comprising a sintered block of stacked sheets of ceramic in a first material containing a high proportion of heavy atoms, this block being provided on one at least of its faces with an additional layer in a second material containing a high proportion of light atoms. The second material is characteristically a glass, the additional layer being produced after sintering of the ceramic block by depositing a glass paste on the surface of the block and then vitrifying, so as to permit penetration of the glass into the ceramic and production of a reciprocal diffusion zone at the glass-ceramic interface.
