The thermohydraulic regulating device protected against excess pressure has safety means (18, 22) in order to always keep the working medium under at least the ambient pressure for vacuum protection. It is equipped with a temperature sensor (3), a temperature set-point regulating member (7), a servo piston (5) and an accumulator (24) which contains a gaseous medium. These safety means (18, 22) keep the working fluid under pressure in such a way that formation of bubbles in the working-fluid space (4) or aspiration of a foreign medium becomes impossible. Provided as means are springy or elastomeric components (18), in particular a radially movable cylinder barrel (18), designed, for example, as inner lining. This regulating device is protected not only against excess temperatures but also against lower temperatures. In addition, it has high measuring sensitivity. <IMAGE>
