The invention relates to an internal shaft rotary piston internal combustion engine (1) with a cylindrical housing (2), with an internal raceway with two curvatures about an eccentrically supported, cylindrical rotor (3), with an odd number of piston discs (5, 6, 7), working chambers (8, 9, 10) being formed between the piston discs (5, 6, 7). The control and the charge cycle are performed by means of a central control shaft designed as hollow shaft (4). According to the invention on the rotor (3) in each working chamber (8, 9, 10) spherical combustion spaces (11, 12, 13) are let in, which towards the inner raceway each have slots (20, 21, 22) lying in a radial plane and towards the hollow shaft (4) have axially offset ports (19). Due to the spherical design of the combustion spaces (11, 12, 13) an improvement of the combustion is achieved. <IMAGE>
