PURPOSE:To convert easily the Japanese rendering of KANJI (Chinese character) stored with a wrong operation into the KANJI of the relevant character, by operating the 2nd key which designates the characters supplied with the 1st key as the Japanese rendering of KANJI, shifting a cursor with operation of the 3rd key and converting the KANA (Japanese syllabary) characters at the positions of the cursor into KANJI by a converting means. CONSTITUTION:A KANA code is supplied by a KANA key 2A after a section key 3 of a key input device 2 is pushed. Thus the Japanese rendering of KANJI is stored in an input buffer 10. Then a conversion key 4 is operated and a conversion dictionary 8 is retrieved based on the KANA characters stored in the buffer 10. This retrieved KANJI is stored in a document storage part 7. The cursor key 2B is operated for shift of a cursor and the character code shown by a cursor position register 3 is transferred to the buffer 10 from the part 7. Therefore even a character which is once put into a document by a mulfunction is also converted into KANJI with operation of the key 4 for the KANA character at the position of the cursor.
