The invention relates to an arrangement for moving and guiding a selective cut advance working machine 1 which moves on a circular guide path 2 and generates its advance movement by means of a toothed rack 9 provided with lantern gears 12, 14, into which it engages with a drive wheel 7. The axes 13, 17 of the lantern gears 12, 14 of this toothed rack 9, which gears are arranged parallel to the gallery level, are directed towards the centre of curvature M of the guide path 2. They taper conically in the direction of this centre M and mesh with teeth 15 of rectangular cross-section of the drive wheel 7 of the selective cut advance working machine 1. They can, however, be designed cylindrically with axes 13 directed towards the centre of curvature M and serve as abutment for the tooth faces 11 of the drive wheel 7 provided with teeth of trapezoidal cross-section, which faces run parallel to their outer surface. <IMAGE>
