PURPOSE:To improve the storage stability, oil resistance and plasticizer resistance of a developed color image and to enhance reliability by eliminating the color development of a background, by containing not only a leuco dye and a dihydroxy aromatic compound in a thermal layer but also a metal compound in an undercoat layer. CONSTITUTION:A thermal color-forming layer based on a leuco dye and a developer and an undercoat layer is provided on a support. As the developer, an aromatic compound having two adjacent hydroxyl groups bonded to the benzene nucleus thereof is used and a metal compound is contained in the undercoat layer. The dihydroxy aromatic compound used as the above mentioned coupler markedly enhances the stability of the titled recording material to oils. If the metal compound is added to the thermal color-forming layer containing the leuco dye and the dihydroxy aromatic compound, a defect, such that a background develops a color through the contact with a plasticizer and oils, is generated. In order to remove this defect, by containing the metal compound in the undercoat layer provided between the thermal color-forming layer and the support, the color development of the background can be eliminated without deteriorating the plasticizer resistance and oil resistance of a developed color image. |
