<p>PURPOSE:To control exactly roll eccentricity and to automate said control by idling upper and lower rolls while the rolls are brought into light contact with each other and detecting the deviation angle of the rotating phase arising from the diametral difference between upper and lower backup rolls. CONSTITUTION:The relative positions of the rotating angle of the upper and lower backup rolls 3, 4 are detected from proximity switches 13, 14 and pulse generator 5 while the upper and lower rolls 1, 2 are idled under the light rolling load exerted thereto. The fluctuations of the rolling load with respect to the individual relative positions are measured by using a load cell 7 and are stored as a table in a basic data storage device 12. The output of the screw down control is calculated from such table and the response delay tie is determined. The response delay time is so determined as to minimize the total sum of the absolute values of the fluctuations of the rolling load corresponding to the relative positions of the rotating angle of the individual backup rolls. The tuning of output of the screw down control is then executed when the response delay time is determined.</p> |
