PURPOSE:To make the preparation and the edition of a document efficiently and quickly by changing dictionaries automatically in a fixed order until corresponding candidate KANJI (Chinese character) is found and making retrieval continuously when KANA (Japanese syllabary)-KANJI conversion is designated. CONSTITUTION:The dictionary of common use phrases, the dictionary of idioms and the dictionary of KANJI set by a user are provided in a Japanese word processor. These dictionaries are switched automatically in a fixed order and retrieved continuously until relevant candidate KANJI is found when KANA- KANJI conversion is designated. It is so made that an operator can designate KANA-KANJI conversion without feeling the relation between the object of conversion and dictionaries at all. Thus, the burden of the operator in operation at the time of KANA-KANJI conversion is reduced remarkably, and the preparation and the edition of a document can be made efficiently and quickly.
