The invention relates to an installation for heat treatment of fine granular material employing a cooler exhaust air line leading from the cooler to the precalcination zone, the join of the lower wall of the cooler exhaust air line with the lateral wall of the cooler housing being situated below the surface of the material in the cooler. As a result, particularly dust-free admixture of the dust precipitated in the cooler exhaust air line to the material in the cooler is achieved.
