In a coolant tank, for example an expansion tank, of a coolant circuit for an internal combustion engine, the pressure relief valve is arranged in the relatively low seated filler neck and in order to prevent coolant losses is connected to a venting line, which opens out inside the tank at the highest point of the air cushion lying above the liquid level. The space situated downstream of the pressure relief valve, which is connected to the surroundings is separated from the inside of the tank by sealing devices which can be fixed in the filler neck. For filling the cooling system and accommodating the valve, only one connection is therefore necessary on the tank, the connection being so located that it or the associated cap projects only slightly, if at all, above the general contour defined by the tank walls. The tank can therefore be used to particular advantage in confined installation conditions. <IMAGE>
