PURPOSE:To output a shaped program independent of a programming language by line-feeding and controlling a character symbol comprising the program according to termination control code information and information on the start of a symbol string defined for shaping and outputting. CONSTITUTION:Right and left bracket symbol string start and termination control codes 1 and 2 are previously set as a shaping control signal. An input part 12 inputs the input symbol string 11 of the program into which said codes 1 and 2 are inserted in the input buffer of a common memory 16. A symbol string length calculating part counts characters held by a pair of control codes, and stacks it in a symbol string length stack 18. Referring to the symbol length stack 18 with respect to the input symbol string 11 read out in an input buffer 17, a shaping output part 14 decides whether or not the part held by codes can be contained on one line with the aid of the symbol string length. When it is not contained, a line feed control is executed, and a visible output symbol string 20 is outputted instead of the part.
