PURPOSE:To prevent the color fading of a spectacle frame which is dyed with a dye by coating a polyurethane resin on a base plate consisting of an epoxy resin, dyeing the coating layer by the dye to form a dyed layer and incorporating a UV absorber into the dyed layer if necessary. CONSTITUTION:The polyurethane resin having about 18 micron thickness is coated on the surface of the flat plate formed by using an epoxy resin of bisphenol A type and amine curing agent and curing the resin and thereafter the surface is dyed by using a disperse dye (Dianix ACE-Trio, red, yellow, blue). The color difference DELTAE deg.ab when determined is 9.3 in the case of the red, 3.1 in the case of the yellow and 15.6 in the case of the blue. The large color change admitted when the epoxy resin is directly dyed is therefore improved to a substentially negligible level by coating the polyurethane resin and dyeing the same to form the dyed layer. The color change is further improved if the UV absorber is incorporated into the polyurethane resin.
