<p>PURPOSE:To obtain the title compound in a very high yield with suppressed formation of tarry polymers, by reacting an organic dibasic acid with ammonia in the presence of a specific tin compound as a catalyst at a temperature below the boiling point of the acid. CONSTITUTION:An alpha,omega-aliphatic long-chain dibasic acid, e.g. suberic acid, of formula I (n is an integer 6-10) is mixed with stannic acetate, stannous or stannic oxide in an amount of 0.01-5mol% based on one mole of the carboxylic acid -COOH. Ammonia gas is then introduced into the mixture under heating and stirring at a temperature below the boiling point of the acid to give the title compound of formula II. EFFECT:No environmental pollution due to the small amount of industrial wastes. Virulently poisonous alkali cyanides and ketene gas are unncessary.</p> |
