PURPOSE:To shorten the processing time of a simple layout by constituting the titled device so that a net pattern is always determined clearly with respect to an absolute recording scan position. CONSTITUTION:A sub-scan line counter 1 receives a count signal 3, whenever a recording head ends a scan of a scanning line, and counts it. When the recording head 1 scans on one scanning line and advances, a main scan position counter 2 receives a count signal 4 of a suitable interval corresponding to its motion, and counts it. By the contents of the counters 1, 2, an absolute recording scan position is known. In case when a recording scan is started from the middle part of a picture, a preset value counting circuit 8 calculates in advance a value of the counter corresponding to its scan start point before starting the scan, and presets its value in advance in the counter 1. An absolute recording scan position and a partial position of a net pattern are related to each other through a net pattern memory 5. From the preset partial position, a dot is generated in accordance with this relation.
