PURPOSE:To obtain an alloy with superior grindability and favorable characteristics as the material of the core of a magnetic head by blending an Fe-Si-Al alloy with a specified amount of Sn and a specified amount of an element which is effective in making the grains fine or improving the magnetic characteristics as a secondary component. CONSTITUTION:An alloy with high magnetic permeability is composed of, by weight, 4-12% Si, 3-8% Al, 0.05-6% Sn and the balance Fe. To the alloy is added 0.01-7% in total of one or more among <=5% each of Ti, V, N, Ta, Cr, Mo, W, Ni, Co, Cu, Ce and Sb, <=3% each of Mg, Mn, Ca and Zr, and <=2% each of rare earth elements, Y and Pt group elements as secondary components. |
