In a process for the heat treatment of metal products, in particular engine blades for aircraft turbines, in a furnace to which at least one process gas is fed to form the furnace atmosphere, the process gas is to be purified in the furnace or in the waste gas. An automatic pressure control of the furnace atmosphere is also carried out, the rate of the process gas fed being automatically controlled.
