PURPOSE:To obtain a heat exchanger having specified quality by providing sealing heads to both ends of an outside cylinder, advancing the heads while introducing a liquid pressure into the cylinder from the sealing head and expanding the cylinder along dies. CONSTITUTION:The sealing head 2 having a port 7 for introduction of the liquid pressure and the sealing head 3 having a port 8 for air venting are provided to both ends of the heat exchanger. The heads 2, 3 are advanced from both right and left ends while the liquid pressure is introduced into the outside cylinder 1 through the port 7 of the head 2. The cylinder 1 is thereby expanded along plural pieces of the dies 6 mounted to the outside circumferential part of the cylinder 1. The heads 2, 3 are then retreated and the stainless steel heat exchanger for the bath furnace having the prescribed shape is thus obtd. The heat exchanger obviates the generation of distortion and pinholes during welding of fins and has the specified quality.
