PURPOSE:To smooth the discharge of a packing material and the outflow of a molten metal by packing the packing material into the upper part of a sliding nozzle then disposing a metallic plate on the packing material to cover said material and transferring the molten metal into a vessel. CONSTITUTION:The packing material 11 is packed into the upper part of the sliding nozzle of the vessel 1 for the molten metal up to about the top surface position of a brick 5 in the nozzle part. The metallic plate 12 made of iron is then disposed to the upper part of the material 11 and the molten metal 4 is put into the vessel 1. The wash away of the material 11 by the flow of the metal 4 is obviated and the outflow of the material 11 is prevented. The intrusion of the metal 4 into the material 11 and the consequent setting of the material 11 are obviated as well. The discharge of the material 11 and the outflow of the metal 4 are thus smoothly executed when the sliding nozzle is opened. |
