METHOD FOR FABRICATING GRANULAR MATERIALS WITH CLOSED GAS-FILLED CELLS

The disclosed method consists in carrying out a previous heat treatment of the starting material at a temperature comprised between 800 and 2000C, which material is then regularly charged at a rate comprised between 0.5 and 50 kg/h into a chamber heated at a temperature between 800 and 5000C and effecting a thermal shock at high temperature, resulting in a gas evolution. The granular material with closed gas-filled cells thus fabricated has a density comprised between 0.12 to 2.7 g/cm<3> and a volume weight comprised between 0.05 and 1.6 kg/l.
