The present invention relates to a hatch covering device for inland ships with unstiffened hatch longitudinal coaming, on which a number of covers are mounted in a rollable manner. The invention provides a remedy here by providing wheel flange rollers which are fastened on the underside of the cover and are rollable on the upper edge of the longitudinal coaming, the wheel flange rollers being axially displaceable on their axle against the force of a spring, the spring force pressing in particular axially outwards.
