PURPOSE:To obtain a steel having high strength comparable to that of a material subjected to soln. heat treatment when the titled steel for use at high temp. is plastically worked, by specifying the working temp. range so as to prevent deterioration in the creep rupture characteristic of the steel by cold working. CONSTITUTION:When an austenitic stainless steel used at high temp. under stress is worked, plastic working is carried out in the temp. range of >50-600 deg.C. The warm worked steel undergoes no reduction in the creep rupture strength unlike a conventional material cold worked at ordinary temp., and the steel shows strength comparable to that of the conventional material subjected to soln. heat treatment after cold working. The warm worked steel can be used as it is without requiring soln. heat treatment. |
