PURPOSE:To increase the kind of processing workpieces by a system wherein a workpiece clamped to a retaining mechanism at a workpiece handling station is transferred to each processing station through the angular displacement of a supporter, and exposed to a series of processes in the course of turning with a drive unit coupled to the retaining mechanism. CONSTITUTION:At a workpiece handling station S1, a workpiece W is temporarily clamped to a workpiece retaining mechanism 21. By an index drive means 9, a supporter 8 is driven for 90 deg. displacement and shifted to a machining station S2 where a clamping rod is connected to a carrier and a clamp rod is connected to a movable, thereby clamping properly the workpiece W to said mechanism 21. Then, a drive motor is operated to put the workpiece W in a temporary clamping condition after the finish of its machining. In this state, said drive means 9 works to cause the 90 deg. displacement of the supporter 8 and the workpiece W is shifted to a primary bore processing station S3. After the finish of bore processing, the workpiece W is transferred to a secondary bore processing station S4. After the completion of processing, the workpiece W is shifted to the handling station S1 and the temporary clamping thereof is released for discharge, with a robot retaining the workpiece W. |
