PURPOSE:To obtain a flame-retarding resin composition excellent in balance between mechanical property and heat resistance, by mixing a polystyrene with decarbromodiphenyl ether, octabromodiphenyl ether and an inorganic flame retardant. CONSTITUTION:A resin composition prepared by mixing 100pts.wt. polystyrene resin with 5-25pts.wt. decarbromodiphenyl ether (A), 1-25pts.wt. octa bromodiphenyl ether (B) and 1-15pts.wt. inorganic flame retardant (C), wherein the sum of (A) and (B) used is 6-30pts.wt. The flame-retarding effect attained by the combination of flame retardants A and B can be further increased when it is combined with inorganic flame retardant (C). When the sum of the amounts of flame retardants A and B is smaller than 6pts.wt. the flame retardancy is not sufficient, while when it is larger than 30pts.wt., the mechanical properties and heat resistance of the obtained resin decrease.
