PURPOSE:To measure a tape traveling quantity and to connect and edit correctly respective programs by counting the FG quantity of a capstan motor. CONSTITUTION:A capstan 10 is reversely rotated by a control device 5 and a tape 1 is reversely traveled. An FG pulse 13 based upon an FG signal 19 from a detecting device 8 comes to be the set value of a counter CT4 and then, the device 5 turns off a driving signal 18, a motor 18 is stopped and the tape 1 is stopped. Next, by respective signals 16-18 of the direction, the driving indication and the drive with the deice 5, the motor 10 is driven in a positive direction, the tape 1 is positively traveled, the signal 19 is detected 8 and the pulse 13 is inputted into a CT4. For the CT4, when the input pulse comes to be the set value, a signal 14 is given to the device 5, a recording control signal 12 is generated, a control signal 11 is recorded to the tape 1 by a head 2 and the next new program is connected.
