<p>PURPOSE:To estimate copper grade in slag with high accuracy and rapidly to recover sedimentary copper part, by measuring oxygen partial pressure in molten copper converter slag while reducing it, standardizing the value to oxygen partial pressure at a fixed temp., estimating copper grade in slag from the value and denoting it as end point of operation when the aimed value is attained. CONSTITUTION:Molten converter slag having a prescribed copper grade is charged into PS type small converter, coal fines as reducing agent and air as oxygen are blasted to separate and recover copper part in the slag. During this, oxygen sensor is inserted into slag from furnace inlet, to measure oxygen partial pressure in matte, the value is standardized to said pressure at a fixed temp. e.g. 1,200 deg.C, and this is compared with chemically analyzed value of sample. Namely, as shown in a figure, if Cu wt% in slag is decreased, variance is decreased in a relation between oxygen partial pressure and Cu wt%. Consequently, if oxygen partial pressure of slag is measured during reducing operation to obtain standardized oxygen partial pressure, sedimentary copper part can be separated and recovered with excellent efficiency, by setting the time point when oxygen partial pressure corresponding to the aimed Cu wt% is attained, as operation end point.</p> |
